Hey Sailors,

I’m sorry for not posting last week. First I was sick and a close member of my family unfortunately passed. So, it was a bit rough on everyone. Rest in peace 🙏🏻 up there!

But I’m back with a new post, where I’m going to talk about some cool pieces from my vintage caps collection.

I’ve been collecting caps ever since I can remember. I wish I kept all my ’90s NBA caps, but I haven’t! Make sure to keep your unique stuff, because in 20 years it will be valuable! Today, as I thrift, I try to find the same caps I had as a teen and find grails! And trust me, if you are patient enough, you can stumble upon unique and beautiful caps with many stories to tell!

This beautiful official ’88 Seoul Korea Olympics is made in half a blue velvet and a blue back mesh. From the sweatband, I can conclude that this cap was never worn. It could be from a dead stock or a simply unused souvenir. The cap has its original tag and beautiful front embroidery.

Why I picked it: the design is simply gorgeous! I also collect to keep these pieces as archives/inspiration for future projects. Furthermore, it had 88 written on it! It’s meant to be! 😉 It’s a perfect addition to my vintage caps collection!

When I found this cap, I was in awe! First, I had never seen one like this! Second the design, the wool, the embroidery, and the pin made it a grail!  Third, this is a vintage New Era from the 1950’s! A rare beauty! This piece is highly regarded in my vintage caps collection!

NASSIG: is the name for the Naval Air Station in Sigonella, Italy. Today it’s called NAS.

TIP:  This cap was in pretty bad shape when I purchased it. I restored it thanks to this amazing video from my thrift inspiration Paul Cantu. Super helpful and cheap tips!

This yellow beauty is from the late 40s and early 50s. I was told it might have been used by a US Navy deck officer during the Korean War. There’s only one marking: a stamped number 2. This is a high-level grail! It is my objective to get into caps making in the future. But first, I need to educate myself on the subject.

I hope you enjoyed these pieces from my caps collection. Of course, these are only a few. I might easily have 100 caps all around. However, these are safely kept in boxes.

That’s all for today Sailors,
