A Deep Passion For History To Wearable Art: How I Started 88th Company Unique Pieces (Part 4)

September 15, 2023by Sonia0

Welcome back, Sailors! I’m back after a well-deserved vacation! I’m still feeling lazy and wish I had more time to relax. But even so, I kept having these cool ideas for blog posts and new projects. I guess my brain can’t stop being creative !🤪

I will finally show you the last project from 88th Company archives this week.

Derek Guy, from dieworkwear.com, asked me to customize this unique Rothco duffle bag. He wanted the bag to be about the P-38 Lightning and the result came out pretty cool! Finally, this project was enlightening for the future of 88th Company’s custom packaging design.

This is the front of the bag with the kills and the 8th AF.

I used to use black countering around everything, but I don’t do this anymore. I feel it lowers the quality of any design and makes it less realistic. Now, I rather keep things authentic, “as they are!”

I like the left side of the bag! It’s pretty cool! Also, here, my stencil work is much cleaner. Everything is a learning curve!

I never get tired of painting insignias like these! They are SICK!!! I still use the white countering with a flat brush. I love this finish! 🤌🏻🤌🏻

I always loved the graphic design work around packaging! This is why I spent years perfecting the way I package my work. I don’t think I will ever be satisfied with one look, because I’m always a seeker of new ideas. I always want to take you into a different universe of stories. That 88th Company’s DNA!

This is a recycled brown paper box, stamped with the logo of the custom bag (the P-38). Today, I rarely use stamps. I mostly use my custom stencils, because I can control the font and size of everything. Finally, the result is much cleaner.

I love to mix fabric and paper. I think it looks cool! This is my signature ribbon inspired by the ones from the military.
